FOMO Is a State of Mind
Fourth lesson (ref: this post): We will never see everything, do everything, experience everything. We can’t. And if we spend life focused on what we can’t squeeze in, we don’t give ourselves the peace to enjoy what we do do.
On our last morning in Athens, we had a few hours to kill before our flight. We thought about a final jaunt through the city, an extra park, playground or brunch. We ended up leisurely walking to the bus and simply catching a bus to the airport rather than a taxi. We enjoyed a slice of local life in Greece as we picked up passengers along the route. Maybe we could’ve seen or done more, but I feel (so surprisingly) at peace with this choice. Adding more things to the to do list and rushing through, for fear of leaving them off, doesn’t fill my life the way I assumed it would.
