Staples Part III (Kenya Edition)

The traditional Kenyan meal we made in our cooking class with Nimoh.

Staples in my kitchen in Nairobi (since everything can be delivered by the Glovo app, it’s really similar to our pantry at home, with a few deviations and some consideration about what can be peeled and eaten safely):

  • Basmati rice

  • Ground beef

  • Tilapia

  • Chapatis (lots of Indian influence in Kenyan cuisine)

  • Spiked melon (tastes like cucumber!)

  • Cucumbers, carrots, and broccoli

  • Unbelievably sweet fresh pixie oranges

  • Eggs

  • Coffee

  • Kenyan chevda (spicy snack) and roasted peanuts
