Three Months on the Road
Kyoto Cherry Blossoms
We’re just about halfway through the adventure of worldschooling. Some reflections from the midpoint:
We keep falling in love with countries (Mexico, Japan) and then transition to somewhere new and fall in love again. I’m sooo happy to be in India.
We are getting very good at packing. What felt entirely overwhelming with each move is starting to feel more participatory with help from the boys and simpler as we have gotten so familiar with our things.
Souvenirs from these travels feel essential in a way I hadn’t experienced before. It’s not just buying the thing that will be pretty at home. It’s finding something that will remind us of a moment, an adventure, a feeling.
Carving out time to write and reflect is not easy but super rewarding. 1:1 with Matt has been hard between work and travel.
Visitors change our travel in really significant ways. With each guest we’ve been able to explore a different side of where we are, based on their interests. It brings out a different dynamic in each of us in observable ways and gives our travel more concrete chapters.
While we’re very active, we’re also tasting everything we can. Stretching our taste buds is part of the adventure and this is not a time to restrict the diet or lose weight!
We will keep seeking conversations with locals to ground our experiences, but even with a month in each country we can only barely scratch the surface of understanding.
