Buzzing Around the World (Part 2)
Mary and Filex flying to visit the bee family.
Mary and Filex are dragonflies. They live in a pond with milkweed. Mary is 45-year-old and Filex is 7-years-old.
They came on an airplane with screens. While flying to meet the bee family, Mary learned about Desert Globemallow while Filex watched a movie, “Flappy Waterfall World.” They came and Filex and Levi were shy at first but after they hung out and ate some honey, they became best friends. Filex brought a book Levi had left behind.
Flappy Waterfall World
The two families went together on trips to museums, playgrounds and played buggy-ball. They went on a long and tiring trip to a waterfall and their wings got wet in the little pools. They went to a place where they could rent towels that had room for their stingers and dried off their wings.
Max and Levi went to pollinator school and Filex joined them. Filex knew most of the answers because he had learned more about pollinating from his school at home in a giant milkweed plant.
It was a hot night and very early in the morning Filex and Mary left for the airport. Levi soon found out they were going to see them again in a couple of weeks when Levi’s family would go to stay with Filex and Mary.
After ten days or so, the family went to the coast! It was a 6-hour drive. Levi and Max both barfed on the way there! They started the second audiobook in a series called “Whispers in the Wax.”
Whispers in the Wax
They stopped for lunch in a new town. The family made it to their new cabin and they settled in for 2 weeks. Then they went to the beach and saw a bee army shooting a dog!
Levi yelled, “STOP!” Cleo grabbed him and had a talk with him. Max also yelled, “STOP!” and Bill grabbed him. “We can’t do a thing about it,'' Bill said, but Max and Levi didn’t listen and ran right into the army’s hive!
Cleo and Bill looked for their kids.
“Find the control room and tell me where it is,” Max said to Levi.
“What about Mom and Dad?” Levi asked Max.
“Just go!” Max yelled, and Levi buzzed off. Levi flew around the hive. The first thing he saw was the queen bee yelling, “MORE SOLDIERS! We need to protect my babies!”
Then Levi found the control room and flew to Max.
“Hide,” he heard Max say from inside a box.
“Why are we hiding?” Levi asked Max, as Levi hid with him. “Oh, by the way, I found the control room,” Levi said. Max whispered, “Let’s go.”
They had to blend in so they grabbed two soldier uniforms from the storage area. The kids went into the control room as Max started pushing buttons. “What if you're hitting the wrong buttons?” Levi asked. “Excuse me, I got an A + in Pollen Hive Simulation.” Max found the “Suck the Honey,” button. He pressed the button and that sucked the honey out of the honeycombs which distracted all the soldiers.
While everyone was busy with the honey conundrum, Cleo and Bill found the kids and took off the soldier uniforms.
“B..b..but the dog!” Levi said, stuttering.
“We can’t take care of that dog,'' Cleo and Bill said together.
“Please?” the kids said with puppy dog eyes.
“OK,” Cleo said, “I guess now we have to rescue a dog.”
Can the family rescue this pup???
